Transfer and Articulation Guidance

Credit for Prior Learning Policy 

CSU campuses or their designees shall apply toward admission eligibility and/or the degree, academic credit earned from (1) examinations, (2) learning, skills, and knowledge acquired through experience, (3) learning acquired outside formal higher education and/or (4) education, training and service provided by the Armed Forces of the United States.

CSU Systemwide Credit for External Examinations  (Prev. EO 1036)

This policy provides systemwide information regarding credit awarded for external examinations including the College-Level Examination Program, the International Baccalaureate, the College Board Advanced Placement Tests, and the Defense Language Proficiency Test. This policy also provides information regarding credit awarded through Associate Degrees for Transfer.

The majority of policies have been updated to reflect the change from Regional Accreditation to Institutional Accreditation. The following link provides a list of Institutional Accreditor agencies. If said agency has accredited the institution where a course has been completed, then the course is eligible for consideration for credit.

Transfer of Credit Policy  

Courses which have been developed and are recommended by the faculty of an institutionally accredited college or university and designated as appropriate for baccalaureate credit by that institution shall be accepted by any campus of The California State University for credit toward its baccalaureate degrees.

This program is designed for freshman entering a California Community College and guarantees admission to a CSU. Students may enter into an agreement through the CSU Transfer Planner.
